Soil Loss and Pollution
Why It Is Bad
Soil loss and pollution is bad because it slows photosynthesis by blocking sunlight. It does this by blowing soil over to a river or stream. This effects plants because plants use photosynthesis in order to get their necessary nutrients. We use plants in a lot of things, especially our food. So without plants we wouldn't have a lot of our delicious dishes. It can also harm fish, clams, and other organisms. This is causing the landfills to fill up quicker and it slowly breaks down trash, but it takes a long time. |
What You Can Do About It
You can stop littering because littering pollutes the soil. Also you can reduce the amount of trash you have by recycling, therefore, the landfills won't fill up as fast. You can also purchase degradable items, which break down quicker, so when you throw those items out, they will fill up the landfill for only a small period of time. |
